Professional screenwriting training and hands-on practice in creating stories for film.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The ROZMAII Screenwriting Program is a structured professional training program designed to teach students how to create stories for the screen — from the first idea to a complete screenplay and its realization in film. The program covers dramaturgy, structure, character development, conflict, dialogue, scene construction, genre, and the author’s creative vision. Students learn to develop stories through loglines, synopses, treatments, and screenplays, present their own projects, work with professional feedback, and rewrite their texts. An important part of the program is understanding how a written story works on screen — in collaboration with the director, actors, cinematographer, editor, and the entire filmmaking process. Throughout the program, students continuously write, read, analyse, discuss, and rewrite their own work, gradually developing their individual voice and building a professional screenwriting portfolio.
The curriculum consists of two parallel areas of study: practical screenwriting training twice a week and the shared Anatomy of Art course once a week.
SCREENWRITING
Twice a week
Professional practical screenwriting training focused on developing stories for film — from the initial idea to a complete screenplay. Students work with dramaturgy, structure, character, conflict, dialogue, scene construction, genre, theme, and the author’s creative vision.
Story and DramaturgyDeveloping theme, idea, conflict, and dramatic structure.Students learn how to build a story that develops organically and holds the audience’s attention.
CharacterCreating multidimensional characters with clear goals, motivations, conflicts, and development throughout the story.
Scene and DialogueBuilding scenes through action, conflict, and subtext. Students learn how to write natural dialogue and understand how every scene functions within the overall structure of a film.

ANATOMY OF ART
Once a week
Shared classes with students from the acting, directing, cinematography, and producing programs, focused on the history, psychology, and cultural context of art. Film, theatre, literature, music, visual art, and other artistic disciplines are explored not only historically, but through the analysis of works, artistic movements, ideas, and processes that shape art.
The aim of the course is to broaden cultural awareness, develop the ability to recognise connections between different art forms, analyse works and artistic phenomena, formulate independent opinions, and develop artistic taste. For a screenwriter, this course is especially important: strong stories are born not only from knowledge of dramatic structure, but also from a broad understanding of people, culture, and the world the writer is writing about.
LEARNING THROUGH PRACTICE
The Screenwriting Program works in close collaboration with the other ROZMAII film programs. Students do not write screenplays in isolation from the future film. They work with directors, actors, cinematographers, and producers and take part in table reads, discussions, pre-production, and the development of film projects.
Screenplays go through the full process: idea → development → table read → feedback → rewriting → preparation for production → filming. This allows students to see how a written text changes through collaboration with the director, actors, camera, and real production conditions. The final stage of the program is screenwriting work on graduation short films.
PROGRAM FORMAT
The Screenwriting Program runs from October 16, 2026 to July 30, 2027.
Classes: 3 times a week
Class duration: 3 hours
Throughout the year, the program will also include workshops and meetings with film industry professionals.

How does admission to the program work?
Admission to the Screenwriting Program is based on an interview. After you submit an application, we will contact you to get to know you and discuss your creative interests, motivation, and expectations from the program.
How are the classes structured?
The program combines theory with continuous practical work. Students analyse films and screenplays, develop ideas, write scenes and screenplays, participate in table reads, receive feedback, and rewrite their texts.
What is “Anatomy of Art”?
Anatomy of Art is a shared course for students from all ROZMAII film programs, dedicated to the history and psychology of culture and art. During the course, we analyse film, theatre, literature, and other artistic phenomena, learn to understand context, explore how and why works of art are created, and develop our own artistic taste.
Do I need to work outside regular classes?
Yes. Screenwriting requires regular independent work. Writing, reading other students’ texts, rewriting, researching material, and preparing for table reads take place alongside regular classes.
Will we only write short-film screenplays?
No. Short films are an important part of the practical training because they allow students to go through the complete process from writing to production. At the same time, students also study principles that apply to longer-form stories and can develop their own ideas in different formats.
Will our screenplays be filmed?
Some of the screenplays developed during the program will become the basis for practical film projects created in collaboration with students from the directing, acting, cinematography, and producing programs. The graduation stage of the program includes screenwriting work on short films.
What will I gain after completing the program?
You will gain a structured foundation in screenwriting and dramaturgy, experience developing stories from the first idea to the final screenplay, professional rewriting skills, and experience collaborating with directors, actors, and creative teams. You will also create original screenwriting work for your professional portfolio and gain experience seeing how written material develops into a film.
How long does the program last?
The program lasts 9 months, from October 16, 2026 to July 30, 2027. Classes take place three times a week, with each class lasting 3 hours.
